Who am I?

Marianne studied Jewellery and art metal work in St Johns Central College, Cork.  On completing the course, she went onto study sculpture in Limerick School of Art and Design focusing in areas of found objects and casting.  Realising her love for metalwork, she took up a night course in jewellery design in NCAD which lead her to apply for a place in the design and craft council of Ireland’s jewellery skills course. She became a student in the Jewellery skills and Design course in 2019 where Marianne honed her skills as a goldsmith. After graduating Marianne moved to Dublin to work in a busy contemporary high-street jewellers. After 2 years there, She felt the call of a slower pace of life and returned to the west of Ireland where she lives today. Marianne designs and hand makes jewellery from her studio on the side of a mountain in Ballina, Tipperary.

Drawn to the creativity and process in the manipulation of metal into a tangible wearable form, Marianne creates jewellery that is modern, contemporary, bold yet comfortable for everyday wear.  Marianne enjoys the juxtaposition of rough textures and clean lines with the inclusion of gemstones and pearls. The city landscape influences her designs with inspiration coming from Brutalist architecture of her home city and the Bauhaus architecture of abroad.  A small detail within the framework of a building can spark imagination and lead to a generation of ideas that in turn create a piece of wearable art.
